摘要: Background:  Toxocariasis occurs in humans due to infection with Toxocara canis or T. cati, the nematode parasites of dogs and cats, respectively. The relationship between toxocariasis asthma is complex, some studies demonstrating that children were more likely be seropositive as compared non-asthmatic children, other indicating no such significant relationship. aim present study was investigate seropositivity its association a selected group Sri Lankan children. Methods:  Two groups studied: 1 included 100 confirmed bronchial who on regular inhaler steroid treatment for asthma; 2 96 did not have physician-diagnosed upper respiratory tract infections, attending same hospital. Diagnosis based IgG Microwell Serum Elisa Kits. Enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay regarded positive reading 0.3 optical density units. Stool samples examined helminth ova. Results: Toxocara 29% this significantly than among (P < 0.001). identified risk factor univariate model. Eosinophilia seen higher proportion asthmatic seropositive. seropositivity, however, multivariate model. Conclusions:  analysis previously factors but there parasitic infection, children.
