摘要: Toxocara canis, cati, are roundworms that live in the intestines of dogs and cats, respectively, predominantly agents human toxocariasis. Studies have suggested spp. seroprevalence increases levels total aeroallergen-specific IgE (sIgE), asthma prevalence morbidity. Nevertheless, other work reported a negative association between seropositivity with skin hypersensititity positive sIgE. The objective present study was to evaluate risk factors for acquiring infection investigate possible significant its atopy asthma. Students from elementary schools, residents small town surroundings Northeast Brazil, underwent blood sampling measure anti-Toxocara IgG, peripheral eosinophils, specific aeroallergens. We used univariable multivariable logistic regression analyses assess atopy, wheeze/asthma phenotypes, sample 791 school children aged 6-13 years. reached 63.6%; 49.9% had sIgE; 7.2% 3.3% atopic non-atopic respectively. Risk associated were: contact (adj. OR 2.33; 95% CI=1.70-3.19) cats 3.09; CI=2.10-4.55), male sex 2.21; CI=1.62-3.02). presence IgG statistically eosinophils >4% >10% 1.84; CI=1.33-2.55 adj. 2.07; CI=1.45-2.97, respectively), 2.00; CI=1.49-2.68), but it not wheeze/asthma. Concluding, results obtained this showing sIgE may suggest immunological cross-reactivity epitopes
