摘要: Two series of tests with different depth wood I-joists were conducted to study the effects circular and square web openings placement steel angle retrofits at openings. Finite-element analysis all test configurations was used improve understanding how affect stiffness, stress distributions around openings, ultimate failure mechanisms. Test results show loads well above prescribed design loads; however, presence affected type modes. Control joists failed tension flange, whereas in shear through or by means directly attributable an opening. Ultimate capacity stiffness generally reduced a opening, located closer high areas producing worse results. Square lowered approximately 10% more than when same location. Steel improved if adequate retrofit length redistribute concentrations. models accurately predicted decreases due openings; predict improvement that not ascertained experimental
