摘要: A cross sectional study has been conducted during 2007-2010 for the assessment of arsenic (As) contamination in drinking water, and its impact on health local public belongs to five districts Sindh, Pakistan. The toxic risk As different areas Sindh province based upon concentration water scalp hair boys girls age group 5-10 11-15 years. total inorganic species samples four Hyderabad, Sukkur, Naushehro Firoze, Nawab shah, Dadu were determined by advance pre-concentration methodologies. resulting data indicated that dominant municipal treated (Hyaderabad) hand pumps (Sukkur, shah Dadu) arsenate (As(V)) arsenite (As(III)), respectively. concentrations district 6.0- 35-fold higher than World Health Organization permissible limit (10 μg/L) water. Whereas, pump found range 26.0-98.2, 18.0-50.6, 52.3-85.2 μg/L, However, Hyderabad within recommended level (As <10 μg/L). content children both genders belonging was be significantly high as compared those residing district. Pearson coefficient correlation r values between levels observed 0.65-0.75, 0.75-0.82, 0.80-0.90, 0.95-0.98, results toxicity hazard quotient carcinogenic exposure children. Moreover, it is concluded consuming groundwater Pakistan at chronic future.
