Surgical Considerations in Reoperative Pouch Anal Anastomosis

摘要: Restorative proctocolectomy with ileal pouch anal anastomosis is the preferred surgical technique in patients ulcerative colitis and majority of those familial ­adenomatous polyposis. The most common complications after include pelvic sepsis, pouchitis, bowel obstruction, all which may lead to failure. Cumulative failure rates range from 2 % at 1 year 9 10 years. However, a “failed” can be salvaged by reoperative surgery, including transanal, abdominal, or combined approach. These salvage procedures are associated acceptable outcomes, their indications management decisions discussed.
