摘要: Abstract Nonlinear behavior at the soil–foundation interface due to mobilization of ultimate capacity and associated energy dissipation, particularly in an intense earthquake event, may be utilized reduce force ductility demands a structure, provided that potential consequences such as excessive settlement are tackled carefully. This study focuses on modeling this nonlinear soil–structure interaction through beam-on-nonlinear-Winkler-foundation (BNWF) approach. The results compared with those from fixed-base elastic-base models. It is observed displacement reduced significantly when foundation nonlinearity accounted for. Moreover, compliance also found have significant effect structural response.
