摘要: Denture base acrylic resins have been shown to be reservoirs for microorganisms and are a potential support the formation of biofilm, which may result in development denture stomatitis. Thus, addition polymer with antimicrobial activity resin could inhibit biofilm growth on base. The aim this study was evaluate an combined poly (2-tertbutylaminoethyl) methacrylate (PTBAEMA) three species (Staphylococcus aureus, Streptococcus mutans Candida albicans). Thirty discs heat-polymerized (Lucitone 550) were produced divided into groups, according concentration PTBAEMA: 0% (control), 10% 25%. specimens individually inoculated appropriate media containing one tested incubated 37oC 48h under aerobic or anaerobic conditions. After incubation, each specimen transferred sterile tube distilled water. Replicate aliquots resultant suspensions plated at dilutions 37oC. mean microbial counts expressed as log (CFU + 1)/mL analyzed statistically =.05. results showed that group 25% PTBAEMA completely inhibited S. aureus mutans. A significant reduction count +1) ml (P=0.001) observed when compared respective control groups. For C. albicans, differences not between groups (P=0.079). It concluded showed, respectively, bacteriostatic bactericidal effect However, had no albicans.
