摘要: We prospectively studied all cases of Staphylococcus aureus bacteremia that occurred during an extensive outbreak methicillin-resistant S. (MRSA) in our hospital over a 4-year period (January 1990 through September 1993). report the results comparative analysis clinical characteristics and mortality rates among patients with nosocomial caused by MRSA (84 cases) or methicillin-susceptible (MSSA; 100 cases). The were older than those MSSA (69 years vs. 54 years, respectively; P < .01) more likely to have following predisposing factors: prolonged hospitalization (32 days 14 days, .01); prior antimicrobial therapy (61% 34%, urinary catheterization (58% 27%, nasogastric tube placement (31% 13%, surgery (45% 31%, = .05). Multivariate use stepwise logistic regression method showed relationship between variables: methicillin resistance (odds ratio [OR], 3), meningitis (OR, 13), inadequate treatment 11).
