摘要: This study uses life cycle assessment (LCA) tools to provide energy and carbon balances for the production of ammonia from biomass gasification compared conventional with natural gas. Ammonia is used nitrogen based fertilisers whilst fertiliser improves crop yield, process intensive produces 0.93 % global greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions. The system analysed includes cultivation under typical UK agronomic practice, in a fast internally circulating fluidised bed gasifier produce syngas, partial oxidation convert syngas into H2 rich feedstock combination correct proportion N2 air added oxidiser, using Haber-Bosch process. LCA results indicate that sequestration CO2 atmosphere during can result GHG savings up 66 production. Results are also presented net balance system, which significant consideration determining most appropriate use amongst sometimes competing pathways heat, electricity or transport fuel Finally scope ongoing related work involving other routes wider environmental impacts outlined.
