摘要: Glutathione peroxidase (GPX) is an indicator of Se status, but the regulation GPX not understood. deficiency decreases activity and mRNA levels in rat liver, effect status on other tissues has been investigated. To study this regulation, male weanling rats were fed Se-deficient, Se-adequate or high-Se diets. At 35 d, kidney, heart, lung, muscle testes activities assayed. determined by northern blotting using a {sup 32}P-labeled 0.7 kb EcoRI fragment cloned GPX. In rats, enzyme was highest liver missing testis; ranking L{much gt}K{gt}Lg{ge}H{gt}M{much gt}T. level also gt}K{gt}H{gt}Lg{ge}M{much decreased dramatically kidney reduced it lung muscle, high did raise above levels. These results show that differences are due to different mRNA. The reduction demonstrates low down-regulates as well liver;more » does up-regulate tissue-to-tissue variation indicates factors addition regulate expression.« less
