Evaluation of the cost effectiveness of establishing a fine needle aspiration cytology clinic in a hospital out-patient department.

摘要: In an attempt to reduce the number of inadequate smears processed by our laboratory and false negative rate fine needle aspiration cytodiagnosis, we have introduced a cytology service where aspirates are taken cytopathologist in clinic. 12 month period since introduction this service, fell sharply. Nine per cent specimens were compared with 43% from other sources. The establishment clinic result threefold reduction cost diagnosing breast lesions.
