摘要: To theEditor. The association between high red blood cell distribution width (RDW) and cardiovascular events heart failure has been reported [4, 7]. link elevated RDW disease (CVD) risk may be due to an underlying chronic inflammation mediated by proinflammatory cytokines that could influence erythrocyte maturation [4]. metabolic syndrome (MS) is a inflammatory disorder increases the of death [5]. A recent study [6] found MS with doubtful results, as weak, lower than for iron, vitamin B12 folic acid, which have not determined either. We performed case-control evaluating well several components MS, i.e., abdominal obesity, low HDL cholesterol, hypertension, hypertriglyceridemia glucose intolerance. was in accordance ethical guidelines Clinical Hemorheology Microcirculation [2]. included 61 patients classified according NCEP ATPIII criteria modified Grundy et al. [5] 94 controls without MS. along B12, indices, glucose, lipids, fibrinogen, hs-CRP neutrophil count. cut-off point 14% corresponding control group mean plus one SD considered RDW; 358 mg/dL fibrinogen 28.61 pg MCH. No differences nor or indices were observed (p> 0.05). Hematocrit statistically higher (p= 0.022) hs-CRP, neutrophils count (p< 0.001) (Table 1).
