Can Mobile Health Improve Depression Treatment Access and Adherence Among Rural Indian Women? A Qualitative Study.

摘要: Major Depressive Disorder (MDD) is associated with low rates of treatment and medication non-adherence, more so in low- middle-income countries (LMICs). Mobile mental health (mHealth) interventions offer promise as a tool to address these problems. However, the feasibility acceptability mHealth among rural women LMICs unknown. We examined barriers accessing treatment, reasons for attitudes towards solutions MDD south India. Six focus groups were conducted (n = 69) who had been at community center. The discussion was transcribed analyzed using modified grounded-theory approach. Women perceived limited autonomy within their family structure, experienced financial systemic contributing poor access non-adherence. Illiteracy, personal mobile phones, preference in-person clinical consultation identified use mHealth. This first qualitative study, our knowledge, that examines attitude setting study contextual will be important before implementing interventions.
