Extramarital Relationships, Masculinity, and Gender Relations in Vietnam

摘要: In most of their forms, extramarital activities by Vietnamese men are not perceived as indelity or adultery. Extramarital relationships often facilitate male bonding and important signiers masculinity privilege. However, face signicant role strain wives become better educated, more independent, contribute greater amounts to the family income. This article, based on both primary secondary data—including 220 survey interviews conducted Nguyen three assistants in all regions Vietnam 2006 22 in-depth follow-up Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, Vinh Long Harris 2007—presents a typology considers development further evolution vis-a-vis issues masculinity, femininity, gender relations.
