摘要: In this paper, a Permeable Reactive Barrier (PRB) made with activated carbon, namely Adsorptive (PAB), is put forward as an effective technique for the remediation of aquifers simultaneously contaminated by some chlorinated organic compounds. A design procedure, based on computer code and including different routines, presented tool to accurately describe mass transport within aquifer adsorption/desorption phenomena occurring inside barrier. The near solid waste landfill in district Napoli (Italy), where Tetrachloroethylene (PCE) Trichloroethylene (TCE) are present, considered case study. complete hydrological geotechnical site characterization, well number dedicated adsorption laboratory tests determination carbon PCE/TCE capacity binary systems, carried out support barrier design. By means series numerical simulations it possible determine optimal location, orientation dimensions. PABs appear be in-situ treatment PCE TCE simultaneously, concentration both compounds flowing everywhere lower than regulatory limits groundwater quality.
