摘要: In this work, an experimental and modeling analysis of the adsorption four aromatic compounds (i.e., toluene, naphthalene, o-xylene ethylbenzene) onto a commercial activated carbon is carried out. The aim to assess suitability process for treatment polluted groundwater, also when multiple contamination detected. Batch tests from simulated groundwater are performed in single-compound systems two binary toluene + naphthalene ethylbenzene), at constant temperature (20 °C) pH (7). Experimental results reveal that all analytes significantly adsorbed on tested carbon. particular, capacities highest similar value, while ethylbenzene, performances lower. these seems be influenced by combined effect several parameters, such as hydrophobicity, molecule size, structure molecule, etc. show different behavior systems, which confirms their complexity explains interest complex systems. mutually competitive, case only former undergoes competitive effects. entire data set integrated with dedicated using extended Langmuir model.
