摘要: Abstract. The Late Permian dicynodont Digalodon rubidgei Broom and Robinson, 1948, is redescribed based on reanalysis of the holotype newly recognized referable specimens. can be diagnosed by presence a long "beak" sharply demarcated from caniniform process; an extremely tall zygomatic ramus squamosal, with thickened, "folded-over" dorsal margin; raised parietal "lips" along lateral edges pineal foramen; broad posterolateral expansion parietal, excluding postorbital back skull roof. Inclusion in recent analysis anomodont phylogeny recovers it as kistecephalian emydopoid, specifically sister taxon to clade containing remaining kistecephalians. Four definite specimens are known, but several additional lacking tusks, swollen "lips", thickened zygoma may represent sexually dimorphic females or juveniles. Specimens restricted central portion Karoo Basin, area around Graaff-Reinet, part characteristic fauna probably representing limited time span.
