摘要: With the recent advances in detection and treatment of cancer, there is an increasing emphasis on efficacy safety aspects cancer therapy. Radiation therapy a common for wide variety cancers, either alone or combination with other treatments. Ionising radiation injury to gastrointestinal tract frequent side effect considerable proportion patients suffer acute chronic symptoms as result. These effects often cause morbidity may some cases lower radiotherapy treatment. can be minimised by two strategies: technical strategies which aim physically shift dose away from normal intestinal tissues, biological modulate tissue response ionising increase its resistance it. Although improvement has been achieved through use modern optimised planning delivery techniques, techniques offer additional further promise. Different agents have used prevent minimize severity induced exposure, including biological, chemical pharmacological agents. In this review we discuss various during radiotherapy, examine different therapeutic options outline examples research directions considerations prevention at pre-clinical level.
