摘要: Abstract Metal pollution study on sediments of North Bay Bengal presented in this paper is based existing Lithostratigraphy upstream, mineralogy and geochemical analysis 42 sediment samples. The statistical identifies the metal as well its apparent source off shore regions. Samples were analyzed for grain size, organic content heavy metals (Fe, Mn, Cr, Cu, Ni, Pb, Cd, Zn Co) using sequential extraction method to evaluate processes load. In an effort surmise anthropogenic input, several approaches including classification by quantitative indexes such enrichment factor, contamination degree pollution, load index geo accumulation index, attempted. speciation results indicate high % Cd exchangeable fraction Mahanadi transect where a considerable amount oxidizable Cr was detected at Dhamra. Quantitative place under moderately polluted zone due level Cd. Normalization Fe indicated relatively factors Cr. Factor identified seven possible types associations pH plays major role mobility. higher concentration EF present may pose risk secondary water slightest disturbance geo-chemistry sediments. Comparison with available data near costal zones upstream stratigraphy revealed that open cast mining, overburden dumping, mineral industrial effluents catchment area contamination. likely face serious threat deposition rates unless rigorous control norms are applied.
