Evaluation of metal contamination in coastal sediments of the Bay of Bengal, India: geochemical and statistical approaches.

摘要: Surface sediment samples collected from the inner shelf region of Bay Bengal, were analysed for major elements and total acetic acid available trace (Al, Ca, Cd, Co, Cr, Cu, Fe, K, Mg, Mn, Na, Ni, P, Pb, Si, Zn) to evaluate geochemical processes influencing their distribution. Major elemental analysis showed that sediments had high concentrations Si relatively low Al Fe. Both metal indicated represent weathered products granite charnockite. Normalization metals enrichment factors Zn Cr. The higher proportions nondetrital Pb (66%), Cd (41%) Co (28%) reveal contamination due anthropogenic inputs. Factor (FA) identified six possible types sedimentological associations. dominant factor accounting 26.9% variance identifies an input accumulation Ni Pb.
