摘要: This paper explores the potential of smart sketchmaps for delivering fit-for-purpose land administration in Eastern Africa. It does this by assessing whether include elements according to different stakeholder perceptions. Whilst use sketch mapping itself is not new administration, sketchmaps’ technologies and processes allow conversion hand drawn maps into topologically spatially corrected maps. Smart can provide qualitative spatial information areas where conventional cartographic geospatial knowledge often limited. Including these system only adds existing data about visible boundaries, but importantly introduces records those less obvious socially or temporally constructed de facto boundaries that are significant customary tenures.
