摘要: Utilising a reconstructed ancestral mitochondrial genome of clade to design hybridisation capture baits can provide the opportunity for recovering sequences from all its descendent and even sister lineages. This approach is useful taxa with no extant close relatives, as often case rare or extinct species, viable analysis historical museum specimens. Asiatic linsangs (genus Prionodon) exemplify this situation, being Southeast Asian carnivores which little molecular data available. Using we recover partial seven banded (P. linsang) specimens, representing first intraspecific genetic dataset species. We additionally assemble high quality mitogenome linsang using shotgun sequencing time-calibrated phylogenetic analysis. reveals deep divergence between two species linsang, P. pardicolor), an estimated ~12 million years (Ma). Although our sample size precludes any robust interpretation population structure distinct matrilines tMRCA ~1 Ma. Our results be used basis further investigation linsangs, demonstrate utility studying divergent without relatives.
