摘要: In this paper, we hypothesize that education is associated with a higher efficiency of health investment, yet advantage solely driven by intelligence. We operationalize investment as the probability dying conditional on certain hospital diagnosis and estimate multistate structural equation model three states: (i) healthy, (ii) hospitalized, (iii) death. use data from Dutch cohort born around 1940 links intelligence tests at age 12 years to later-life hospitalization mortality records. The results indicate intelligent individuals have clear survival for most diagnoses, while remaining disparities across groups are small not statistically significant. © 2016 Authors.
