摘要: A new model of transient, bilateral hemispheric ischemia in the unanesthetized rat is described. During ether anesthesia rat's vertebral arteries were electrocauterized through alar foramina first cervical vertebra and reversible clasps placed loosely around common carotid arteries. Twenty-four hr later, awake rats restrained tightened to produce 4-vessel occlusion. The removed after 10, 20 or 30 min occlusion animals killed by perfusion fixation 72 later. Rats which convulsed during ischemic post-ischemic period excluded from further study. All subjected demonstrated neuronal damage. H1 paramedian hippocampus, striatum layers 3, 5 6 posterior neocortex regions most frequently damaged. advantages this are ease preparation large numbers animals, a high rate predictable damage, low incidence seizures absence anesthesia.
