摘要: Faraday rotation of a beam light is discussed as means determining the magnetic field within plasma and relative merits various detection systems are considered. Apparatus described for measuring plane polarization He–Ne laser at 6328 A on passing through small θ‐pinch plasma. Using differential system risetime 0.3 μsec, an observed peak 1.0 mrad can be measured to accuracy 10%. Deviation by electron‐density gradients shown readily compensated for. Good agreement obtained between measurements independent using probes.
