摘要: 3-Hydroxy-3-methylglutaryl coenzyme A (HMG-CoA) reductase inhibitors decrease mevalonate and subsequently cholesterol synthesis competitively. Mevalonate is also the precursor of ubiquinone. Ubiquinone an important component electron transport chain. We therefore investigated effect simvastatin on rat blood tissue ATP concentrations lipid composition red cell membranes after 4 weeks therapy. Significant reductions in plasma cholesterol, triglyceride, were detected. Tissue levels not affected. Membrane phospholipids increased, while to phospholipid ratio decreased (P < 0.05). positive correlation between concentration was noted 0.05, r = 0.851). Our results show that HMG-CoA change probably functions membrane lipids concentration.
