摘要: Background. The outcome of radiation therapy for localized prostate cancer depends on many pretreatment variables that are interrelated in complex ways. A multi-variate analysis 874 cases treated between 1966 and 1988 was conducted. median length the follow-up period after 6.7 years. Methods. disease rate survival analyzed with proportional hazards model patients stage A2 (104), B (168), or C (602) as only primary treatment. Results. Local recurrence rates were 12%, 24%, 33% at 5, 10, 15 years, respectively. In multivariate analysis, (A2 vs. + C) pathologic grade (1 2 vs 3 4) independently related to local recurrence. At 10 years control had been achieved 79% favorable (stage B/C, 1), but 62% unfavorable 4). Metastatic relapse 25%, 38%, 47% Factors correlated metastasis high grade, transurethral resection C, elevated acid phosphatase levels, being 60 age younger. group A2/B, 1 1, no resection, older than age) a metastatic 10% whereas an (largely grades 3/4) approaching 70%. overall 77%, 49%, 32% Pathologic survival. A2/B 1) normal expectation years. An consisting 4 tumors less 20% years. Conclusions. complexity long natural history demand careful stratification examination evaluate treatment results. study adjuvants improve effectiveness mitigate urgent priorities.
