摘要: The objective of the U.K. Prospective Diabetes Study (UKPDS), initiated in 1977, was set up to determine whether improved blood glucose control people with type 2 diabetes will prevent complications diabetes. UKPDS also designed there are differences between conventional policy (diet therapy) and three different regimens intensive treatment policy, based on sulfonylurea, metformin, or insulin. Interim efficacy analyses revealed that policies insulin, metformin were equally effective reducing fasting plasma concentrations. However, HbA1c measurements steadily increased time, reflecting ongoing deterioration beta-cell function. Cardiovascular disease major cause complications, risk factors included raised LDL cholesterol concentrations, low HDL elevated pressure, smoking. A final study report issued September 1998, when median duration therapy 11 years.
