摘要: Electron irradiation of NaCl crystals has revealed structure in the luminescence spectra. Variations electron energy, lifetime studies and changes temperature enable one to resolve several component features. The spectra comprise overlapping emission bands centred near 2.35, 2.65 2.85 eV which are interpreted as result exciton decay at impurity sites. intrinsic 3.4 is also noted. Detailed reveal presence excited excitons have different lifetimes bulk surface layers. higher states can be preferentially stimulated with an beam energy excitation sodium Kalpha level. correlated defect formation ejection atoms from surface.
