摘要: Postcopulatory sexual selection comprises both sperm competition, where the from different males compete for fertilization1, and cryptic female choice, females bias use in favour of particular males2. Despite intense current interest processes as potential agents directional selection3, few studies have attributed success attractive to events that occur exclusively after insemination. This is because interactions between pre- post-insemination episodes can be important sources variation paternity4. The artificial insemination overcomes this difficulty it controls male fertilization attributable female's perception quality, well effects due mating order relative contribution competing males5. Here, we adopt technique show guppies, when equal numbers two fertilization, relatively colourful individuals achieve greater parentage than their less ornamented counterparts. finding indicates precopulatory preferences reinforced through postcopulatory occurring at a physiological level. Our analysis also revealed small were advantaged suggesting possible trade-off competitive ability body growth.
