摘要: Background Children’s learning about food and physical activity is considerable during their formative years, with parental influence pivotal. Research has focused predominantly on maternal influences little known the relationships between fathers’ young children’s dietary behaviours. A greater understanding of paternal beliefs regarding behaviours important to inform design delivery child-focussed health promotion interventions. This study aimed describe perceived roles in eating It also sought document views how they could be best supported promote healthy children. Methods In depth, semi-structured interviews were conducted twenty fathers living socio-economically diverse areas metropolitan Melbourne, Australia who had at least one child aged five years or less. All audio recorded, transcribed verbatim thematically analysed. Results Thematic analysis transcripts revealed eight broad themes beliefs, perceptions attitudes towards children: (i) shared responsibility consultation; (ii) family meal environment; (iii) role modelling; (iv) concerns around food; (v) rewards; (vi) education; (vii) limiting screen time; (viii) knowledge.
