摘要: The cells of the nucleus pulposus (NP) region intervertebral disc play a critical role in this tissue’s generation and maintenance, alterations NP cell viability, metabolism, phenotype with aging may be key contributors to progressive degeneration. Relatively little is understood about cells, including their cell-matrix interactions which modulate survival. Our previous work has identifi ed strong region-specifi c expression laminins laminin cell-surface receptors immature tissues, suggesting are uniquely important biology cells. Whether these observed tissue-level patterns refl ect functional adhesion behaviors for not known. In study, we examined specifi matrix ligands, various isoforms, using quantitative assays attachment, spreading, strength. were found attach higher numbers exhibited rapid spreading resistance detachment force on two isoforms (LM-511,LM-332) expressed region, as compared another isoform (LM111) several other ligands (collagen, fi bronectin). Additionally, isolated from disc’s annulus brosus region. These ndings confi rm that receptor documented tissues translates into unique useful tools vitro culture biomaterials support
