摘要: Patterns of lifetime church attendance and participation in voluntary associations among skid-row men two samples "normal" respondents are contrasted with models aging affiliation derived from previous research. All manifested substantial religious disaffiliation during adult life, the model based "disengagement theory" receiving greatest support. With advancing age, becomes increasingly less important as a source both well-to-do poor men. Comparison results cross-sectional retrospective data suggest that currently accepted generalizations about patterns open to serious question. Developmental must be distinguished variations due societal change, do not permit this distinction. * Revision paper read at annual meeting Society for Scientific Study Religion, Montreal, October 1968.
