摘要: Opioid misuse is a growing epidemic among the civilian and military communities. Five hundred prospective, anonymous surveys were collected in emergency department waiting room of tertiary care hospital over 3 weeks. Demographics, medical characteristics investigated for association with opioid use. Univariate logistic models used to characterize probability relation demographic, medical, military-specific variables. Traumatic brain injury (TBI) posttraumatic stress disorder within different age cohorts adjustment deployment. The rate disclosed by subject was 31%. Subjects TBI less likely opioids. We found trend younger have higher likelihood misusing opioids when diagnosed or history deployment past 5 years. most common form using previously prescribed medication new pain. and/or enrollment post-deployment recovery programs maybe protective against misuse.
