摘要: Opioid misuse is a growing epidemic among the civilian and military communities. Five hundred prospective, anonymous surveys were collected in emergency department waiting room of tertiary care hospital over 3 weeks. Demographics, medical characteristics investigated for association with opioid use. Univariate logistic models used to characterize probability relation demographic, medical, military-specific variables. Traumatic brain injury (TBI) posttraumatic stress disorder within different age cohorts adjustment deployment. The rate disclosed by subject was 31%. Subjects TBI less likely opioids. We found trend younger have higher likelihood misusing opioids when diagnosed or history deployment past 5 years. most common form using previously prescribed medication new pain. and/or enrollment post-deployment recovery programs maybe protective against misuse. Chronic use young soldiers viewed as weakness that could influence Younger active duty service members be at risk Efforts enhance close monitoring should address these at-risk populations.
