Emerging Synergies Between Information Technology and Applied Ethnobotanical Research

摘要: Ethnobotanical research has historically played a vital role in humankinds understanding of the relationship between people and biological environment. Today, it remains a  rapidly growing field of  research, gaining professional, student public  interest both within  US and  inter- nationally. Ethnobiologists have however been very slow to adopt apply tools informatics revolution to  integrate  data collaboratively.  If ethnobotany is  continue  develop as discipline, what  is needed near future not only continued effort promote collaborative  ethnobotanical  research  but  also  devel- op an  initiative  bridge  digital gap ethno- biologists emerging bioinformatics tools. Through an improved application information technologies the  traditional model, tomorrow’s scientists may better record com- pare  traditional  botanical  knowledge  (TBK).  This  inte- gration would  greatly  assist  in  stemming  tide  unprecedented  loss global bio-cultural diversity  twenty-first century.
