摘要: Ceftriaxone, a cephalosporin with an extended half-life and excellent antibacterial activity was used to treat bacterial meningitis, given as single daily intravenous dose of 100 mg/kg on day one, followed by 80 daily. A total 22 patients were treated, whom 14 had Haemophilus influenzae type b, five Streptococcus pneumoniae three Neisseria meningitidis isolated from their CSF. The CSF all became sterile within 24-48 h. ceftriaxone concentrations 24 h after dosing 10 100-fold higher than the MIC pathogenic bacteria early in therapy, 50-fold at end therapy. Side effects encountered included mild diarrhoea (32%), thrombocytosis (77%) neutropenia (9%), but none caused therapy be stopped. Ceftriaxone is safe effective antibiotic for treatment meningitis when administered once
