摘要: The quantity and composition of litter at riversides in the surface waters, as well occurrence illegal dumping sites, were studied along four rivers Chile. Data generated by volunteers compared to results from a professional survey, using an identical protocol. Litter was found considerable quantities waters all sites investigated. A generalized linear mixed model analysis showed that recorded densities did not differ between professionals, even after controlling for river, site, or distance sampling locations, demonstrating successfully applied Differences occurred with respect composition, which is most likely due difficulties classification items particles underestimation present water samples. Even though this study only conducted small number comparatively consistent pattern direct intentional deposition recorded, highlighting river basins require more protection. also show citizen science approach can be suitable means extensive surveys other natural environments.
