摘要: ABSTRACT Experiments demonstrate significant variations in recruitment rates, faunal composition and diversity of artificial cryptic reef communities as a function substratum area. Substrata smaller than about 200 square cms are potentially important refuges from spatial competition for organisms. Habitat selection, apparently related to differences water movements around small large substrata, is interpreted mechanism location competition. Environmental or regional comparisons fouling studies based upon data different-sized substrata subject serious misinterpretation.
