摘要: We introduce a demographic model for local population of sessile marine invertebrates that have pelagic larval phase. The processes in the are settling larvae onto empty space, and growth mortality settled organisms. rate settlement per unit unoccupied space is assumed to be determined by factors outside system. predicts number animals each age system through time. offered both discrete continuous—time versions. principal result organisms destabilizing. In model, there always state where recruitment balances mortality. However, can interfere with destabilize this steady state, provided also sufficiently high. suggests two qualitatively distinct pictures structure result, depending on rate. high limit, intertidal landscape mosaic cohorts, punctuated occasional gaps vacant substrate. low has all ages mixed together spatial variation abundance caused microgeographic rates.
