Pain in children: assessment and nonpharmacological management

摘要: Pain perception in children is complex, and often difficult to assess. In addition, pain management not always optimized various healthcare settings, including emergency departments. A review of assessment scales that can be used across all ages, a discussion the importance control distraction techniques during painful procedures are presented. Age specific nonpharmacological interventions manage most effective when adapted developmental level child. Distraction provided by nurses, parents or child life specialists help alleviation procedures.
