摘要: Abstract Purpose The purpose of this study is to determine the effect postoperative fluid balance (FB) on subsequent outcomes in acute care surgery (ACS) patients admitted surgical intensive unit (ICU). Material and methods Acute ICU from 06/2012 01/2013 were followed up prospectively. Patients stratified by FB into FB-positive (+) FB-negative (−) groups day 5 or discharge ICU. Results A total 144 ACS met inclusion criteria. Although there was no statistically significant difference crude mortality (11% for [−] vs 15.5% [+]; P = .422], after adjusting confounding factors, achieving an status during stay associated with almost 70% survival benefit (adjusted odds ratio [95% confidence interval], 0.31 [0.13, 0.76]; .010). In addition, a negative 1 provided protective both overall infectious complications 0.63 [0.45, 0.88]; .006 0.64 [0.46, 0.90]; .010, respectively). Conclusions cohort critically ill patients, early admission nearly reduction risk mortality.
