摘要: BACKGROUND Extracellular adenosine 5′-triphosphate (ATP) stimulates vagal C and Ad fibers in the lung, resulting pronounced bronchoconstriction cough mediated by P2X2/3 receptors located on sensory nerve terminals. We investigated effects of nebulized ATP symptoms control subjects, healthy smokers, patients with COPD compared these responses to inhaled adenosine, metabolite ATP. METHODS studied monophosphate (AMP) airway caliber, perception dyspnea assessed Borg score, sensitivity, exhaled breath condensate nonsmokers (n = 10), smokers 14), 7). RESULTS In comparison induced more dyspnea, cough, throat irritation COPD, were than those AMP. The concentration was elevated that subjects. CONCLUSIONS Smokers manifest hypersensitivity extracellular ATP, which may play a mechanistic role COPD. CHEST 2015;148(2):430-435
