Metformin induced acute pancreatitis precipitated by renal failure

摘要: Metformin is a biguanide commonly used in type 2 diabetes and considered to be safe drug with minimal side effects. Approximately 2% of cases acute pancreatitis may caused by drugs, but it not known complication metformin therapy. To date only one case has been reported association metformin, that was secondary poisoning (overdose). This the first therapeutic dose (although this renal failure precipitated toxicity). Severe lactic acidosis rare life threatening which occurs particularly patients failure.
