摘要: CASE PRESENTATION A 48-year-old woman was referred for a second opinion regarding paroxysmal hypertension. At the time of referral, she had an 18-month history acute hypertensive crisis necessitating hospitalization. She already undergone evaluation by primary care and endocrinology prior to this presentation. Prior 18 months ago, no hypertension her past medical only significant two previous pregnancies, neither which accompanied described herself as healthy exercised daily onset these attacks. generally felt well rested. saw physician regularly health maintenance reported that blood pressure ago usually ranged from 110 120 mm Hg systolic, with heart rate 60–70 beats per minute. family divorced children. did not smoke, drank one cups coffee day, three four glasses wine in evenings, denied illicit drug use, known allergies. our initial evaluation, taking atenolol 25 mg prescribed physician. use non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, vitamins, herbals, or other over counter medications.
