摘要: Solid pseudopapillary tumors (SPT) of the pancreas are rare neoplasms that occur mostly in young women. Despite a low malignant potential, 10% to 15% cases have aggressive behavior with metastatic dissemination possibly leading death. To date, no pathological factor can reliably predict outcome these tumours. Galectin-3, major actor carcinogenesis pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma, has not been investigated SPT. The presence progesterone receptors is frequently reported SPT, whereas estrogen receptor (ER) unclear. We studied 5 SPT consisting 4 and 1 case. morphological distinctive feature nodules was polygonal or spindle cells pleiomorphic nuclei high mitotic count exhibiting diffuse, infiltrative growth pattern. found strong expression galectin-3 all SPTs, whereas, interestingly, it lower nodules. Conversely, normal endocrine neuroendocrine tumors. suggest therefore useful marker distinguish from tumor, also indicator because its associated spreading. Moreover, both ducts rises hypothesis posible origin Specific antibodies for anti-ERalpha anti-ERbeta demonstrated ERbeta ERalpha detected. In conclusion, present study brings first evidence involvement but brought up clues which allowed reconcile previously conflicting results on ER.
