摘要: The present investigation was carried out to study the cytological effects of herbicide atrazine on Allium cepa and Vicia faba with respect cell cycle response, mitotic index, chromosome aberrations nucleic acids content. root young seedlings V. adventitious roots A. were treated following concentrations : 25%, 50%, 75% 100% recommended dose (3.75 g/l) for 4, 8, 12, 24 h. results indicated that reduced division in both plants compared respective control. Mitotic index values progressively decreased increased concentration treatment time. In faba, each time (4, h) toxic, but cepa, same h only toxic. percentage reduction MI higher than cepa. Also, it has been clearly observed inhibition associated DNA RNA contents tips. This may point activity is due a deficiency nucleus. prophase accompanied by percentages other phase. total increasing period treatment. Different abnormal figures all phases. Such types abnormalities stickiness, lagging, C-mitosis, bridges, irregular prophase, unequal distribution, fragments few cells micronucleus at interphase stage.
