摘要: Catharanthus roseus is a medicinal herb found in many tropical and subtropical regions around the world. This plant produces diverse array of secondary metabolites that are pharmaceutically important like vinblastine vincristine used as chemotherapeutic agents treatment several types cancers. Low yield these vinca alkaloids from vivo challenges to meet their high demand worldwide led researchers develop various vitro techniques hairy root culture, callus cultures, shoot metabolic engineering regulation studies increase production. The present review gives an account phytochemicals derived pharmacological aspects studied. Present also highlights biotechnological prospects efficient alternative means production valuable rich microflora residing inside tissues. It emphasis on need exploration niches endophytes. INTRODUCTION: belongs family Apocynaceae native endemic Madagascar. known by names such Vinca rosea, Ammocallis rosea Lochnera rosea. has been put traditional use for wide variety ailments since ages 1 . bears active phytoconstituents exhibits activities antidiabetic, antioxidant, anti-hypertensive, antimicrobial, cytotoxic etc. spectrum terpenoid indole (TIAs) vincristine, anticancer lead molecules.
