摘要: Existing overlap indices are examined and judged to be inadequate on the grounds (1) that they lack simple appropriate biological interpretations, (2) ignore possible variation among resource states in abundance or availability (a_i). Two interpretable terms of encounters proposed. Niche (L) is measured as degree which frequency interspecific encounter higher lower than it would if each species utilized state proportion its Directional (Z_(xy)) density Y encountered, average, by an individual X. When equal size, L equivalent Lloyd's `interspecies patchiness,' Z_(x(y)) his `mean crowding 1 2.' Indices corporate also developed for mean crowding, patchiness niche breadth.
