Factors influencing disposition decisions for patients seen in a psychiatric emergency service.

摘要: OBJECTIVE The study examined factors influencing clinicians' decisions about disposition of patients seen in a psychiatric emergency service. METHODS A stratified random unduplicated retrospective sample 378 patient records was drawn from the 1,823 who visited service an acute care hospital Israel during seven-month period. Patients were selected each following dispositions: not admitted (N = 96), discharged after brief observation 90), to open unit 104), and locked 88). Data on demographic clinical characteristics some clinician system variables analyzed using univariate statistical techniques stepwise logistic regression. RESULTS more likely be if they judged by clinicians suicidal, had than three previous hospitalizations, psychotic, suicidal behavior as presenting complaint, brought involuntarily.
