Patients Presenting for Psychiatric Emergency Services : Clinical Characteristics, Psychosocial Stressors and Disposition

摘要: The aim of this study was to describe the characteristics 600 individuals who presented two Psychiatric Emergency Services (PES) located in one county southern New Jersey. A retrospective chart analysis investigated demographic, clinical, and psychosocial variables that PES presenter. It also examined how these differ between urban suburban sites, they affected disposition decision. Because there is a paucity information investigating role stressors play, specific focus on as defined by Axis IV multiaxial system outlined American Association's Diagnostic Statistical Manual Mental Disorders-IV -Text Revision, (2000 [DSM -IV -TR].) Results correlational found those patients with "threat harm self or others" had greater chance being admitted. Presence social support did not affect decision, though if patient connected case management, were hospitalized. Patients substance abuse more stressors.
